Born in the Pacific Northwest, Kathryn Gabinet-Kroo made her way east and settled in Montreal. She spent her childhood revelling in nature, the vast array of flowers and trees, the coastline and mountains of Oregon. Kathryn misses it still and so tries to capture the essence of natural surroundings in her work.

A photographer turned painter, Kathryn has naturally sought to create realistic images and the techniques that satisfy this need. Those that serve her best are watercolours on paper or claybord and oil and oil pastels on canvas or wood panel.
